The NS (Name Server) records of a domain show which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. In simple terms, the zone is the group of all records for the domain name, so when you open a URL within a browser, your PC asks the DNS servers worldwide where the domain name is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain address must be retrieved. That way a web browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain address is so that the latter is mapped to an Internet protocol address and the site content is requested from the correct location, a mail relay server detects which server takes care of the e-mails for the domain name (MX record) so that a message can be forwarded to the appropriate mailbox, etc. Any change of these sub-records is performed using the company whose name servers are used, allowing you to keep the website hosting and change only your email provider for instance. Each domain address has a minimum of 2 NS records - primary and secondary, which start with a prefix such as NS or DNS.

NS Records in Website Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia CP, offered with with our website hosting plans, will enable you to deal with the name servers of each domain name registered through us with only a couple of mouse clicks, so even if you have not had a website hosting plan or a domain name before, you'll not encounter any issues. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, has a very user-friendly interface and it'll enable you to change the NS records of any domain name or even a number of domain names simultaneously. We provide you with the chance to create child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for each and every domain name registered inside the account just as easily and all you need for that is a pair of IPs - either ours, if you'll use the child NS to point the domain address to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you'll use the new records to point the domain address to their system. In contrast to other providers, we don't charge more for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The process takes a few mouse clicks in Hepsia - the user-friendly management tool, which comes with our semi-dedicated plans. If you have a number of domain names inside the account, you're going to be able to update all of them simultaneously, which will save you a great deal of time and mouse clicks. You can also see with ease the name servers which a domain uses and if they are the correct ones or not for the domain to be directed to the account which you have on our sophisticated cloud hosting platform. Hepsia will enable you to create private name servers under any domain address registered in the account and use them not just for that domain name, but also for every other one that you intend to direct to our cloud platform.
