When you register a domain, you are requested to supply a genuine street address, email and telephone number as per the policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). This information, though, is not kept only by the registrar company, but is visible to the public on WHOIS check websites as well, so anybody can see your information and a lot of people may not be delighted with that fact. As a consequence, a lot of domain registrars have launched the so-called Whois Privacy Protection service, which hides the domain registrant’s info and upon a WHOIS lookup, people will view the details of the registrar company, not those of the domain owner. This service is also called Privacy Protection or Whois Privacy Protection, but all these terms refer to the very same service. Nowadays, most of the top-level domain names around the globe allow Whois Privacy Protection to be activated, but there are still country-specific extensions that do not support this service.

Whois Privacy Protection in Website Hosting

You can swiftly enable Whois Privacy Protection for any domain name that you’ve registered through our company in case you have a website hosting account with us. This can be done through the same Hepsia hosting Control Panel, via which you manage the web hosting account, so you won’t need to use different platforms. In the same section where all your active domains will be listed, there will be an “Whois Privacy Protection” icon for every domain name whose extension supports this option. The status of each icon will quickly let you know if the Whois Privacy Protection service is activated for a certain domain or not and by clicking on that icon you can enable the service in case you haven’t done so during the account activation procedure. You will also be able to renew or to deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service for any domain using the same icon and the change will take effect instantly.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can activate our Whois Privacy Protection service without any difficulty. This requires only a few clicks of the mouse in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, through which you manage everything connected with your account. This is the place where you can see all your domains and for each of them you’ll see an “Whois Privacy Protection” icon, using which you can activate, renew or deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-specific domain name extensions that are Whois Privacy Protection-eligible and you’ll be able to see this in advance, so you won’t end up ordering a service that we cannot provide.
